You talked, we listened.
Ferndale Schools are great but many buildings are worn and are in need of critical repairs. We believe the time is right to replace the high school and repair many of the other schools. We didn’t come to these conclusions alone. We asked you what you thought.
To meet the needs identified by the community, the following projects were recommended to the Board and approved by voters in February 2019:
A Community Process: Start to Finish
The Ferndale School District bond proposal approved in February 2019 includes a Community Oversight Committee. The group is made up of residents living inside Ferndale School District boundaries who will meet 3-6 times per year to provide oversight on bond spending. Employees of the Ferndale School District and the City of Ferndale may not serve on the committee, but all others were encouraged to apply.
The committee responsibilities are to make sure the projects are delivered:
- On Time, ensuring projects are completed according to schedule.
- On Budget, ensuring projects stay on track financially.
- As Promised, ensuring projects match the commitments the district made to taxpayers.
- With Transparency, ensuring all information is regularly shared with the community.
