Upcoming Bond Oversight Committee Meeting

 

Ferndale School District’s Bond Oversight Committee
has announced that it will hold its next meeting on:

Tuesday, September 21 , 2021
6:00 p.m.
At Vista Middle School Library
6051 Vista Drive, Ferndale, Washington

Please note: The meeting will also be live-streamed via Zoom.

The Committee will consider agenda items as attached hereto and any other matters that may properly come before the Committee at that time.

If you wish to attend a Bond Oversight Committee meeting in person, you must pre-register. Please keep in mind that there will be limited seating capacity due to Covid-19 compliance measures. Registrations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be accepted until 12:00 noon on the day of the meeting. Contact Tammy Longstaff, tammy.longstaff@ferndalesd.org to request a seat, and she will confirm your attendance via email. All attendees will be required to wear a face mask and maintain six feet of physical distance at all times. Upon arriving at the meeting location, attendees will be required to sign-in and complete the Covid-19 Attestation form.

Who are the members of the Community Oversight Committee?

What requirements were used to choose the Community Oversight Committee?

  • No fewer than 5, no more than 9 members
  • Duration: Extent of the Ferndale School District bond spending
  • Must be a Ferndale School District resident
  • Cannot be a current FSD employee, board member, vendor, contractor, or consultant
  • Cannot be a current City of Ferndale employee or consultant
  • Experienced individuals in a range of professions specific to the 2018 bond projects list (building design/construction, project management, accounting, real estate, finance, education, etc.)
  • Good standing and reputation in the community for fairness and transparency
  • Active community members
  • Number of meetings = 3-6 meetings/year

What are the Community Oversight Committee responsibilities?

The committee responsibilities are to make sure the projects are delivered:

  • On Time, ensuring projects are completed according to schedule.
  • On Budget, ensuring projects stay on track financially.
  • As Promised, ensuring projects match the commitments the District made to taxpayers.
  • With Transparency, ensuring all information is regularly shared with the community.

Basic Criteria:

  • Must be a Ferndale School District resident
  • Cannot be a FSD employee, vendor, contractor, or consultant
  • Cannot be a current City of Ferndale employee or consultant
  • Must be willing to commit to the Committee throughout the scope of the bond spending process

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experienced individual in a range of professions specific to the Ferndale School District bond proposal projects list
  • Good standing and reputation in the community for fairness and transparency
  • Active Community members (member of the Bond Task Force; volunteer history; etc)
